Parkineer’s 2020
nEIL lAMONT - FUNDED FIRST PILOT STUDY
Neil’s story is beautifully captured in these two inspiring videos. His utter determination not to give in to the problems surrounding Parkinson’s have been enlightening and inspirational. He has raised thousands of pounds for Parkinson’s UK and more recently taking up painting and selling his paintings with all proceeds going to the charity!

The muscle activation treatment has really helped me with my speech and the dragging of my legs.
I certainly don’t want to go down the heavy drugs route, but the old British Bulldog spirit has to come through and make sure I keep fighting.

To know there is a treatment that works - then have that pulled from under your feet is nothing short of amoral and cruel.
But finding Sue and her team’s approach was in stark contrast to many others that I have experienced. She understood the different and diverse needs of the Parkinson's community. I found immediate benefits after my first session. I entered the clinic unable to walk and left virtually skipping!

No other treatment has given me such pain relief even though I have had lengthy and very expensive courses throughout my adult life. I cannot praise this treatment highly enough I arrived in the new Forest with backache, a completely rigid ankle and very tight muscles in my whole body. I left still with Parkinson’s but with a new belief that I can fight the symptoms with something other than drugs.

I really found the pilot study beneficial and because we were together for 4 days , getting daily activations, feeling the benefit as the days progressed and most importantly the follow up’s. Furthermore the "lockdown" has opened a new door with the Zoom meetings and this was also a further reminder to keep doing the activations DAILY.

And now for the BIG one-I can now put on my socks and tie my own shoe laces with ease, maybe a small thing for some but huge when you lose the ability. I am now a converted Sue exerciser and will continue the regime at home in order to maintain the progress we have made to date. I can’t say enough for the positive difference Sues input has made to me so far in such a short space of time and now look ahead with a much brighter outlook.

The pilot was a real eye opener - 10 of us at different stages of Parkinson's, and all of us achieving significant improvements.
I look forward very much to the ongoing trial with Romsey, and am invigorated both by their support and by that of the other nine Parkineers, who are all remarkable people. Our mutual support gives me increased confidence going forward.

Within a few treatments I was standing more upright, walking better and reduced my need for paracetamol from 8 a day to the occasional tablet. I have had treatment every 2 weeks and have continued to improve despite the passage of time.
For that I am eternally grateful.
